I-5 SR 161/SR 18 Triangle Interchange Improvements, WSDOT
The goals of this project were to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety along the corridor by implementing direct access flyover ramps, increasing traffic lanes, and reducing weaving and left turn movements. CivilTech’s responsibilities included preliminary structural engineering services for over twenty retaining walls, including standard concrete cantilevered walls, structural earth walls, soldier pile walls, soil nail walls, and noise walls. Our engineers developed plans, profiles, elevations, typical sections and details for walls specific to each location. We prepared Wall Site Data and Retaining Wall Recommendation Summaries for each wall using standard forms from WSDOT’s Design Manual. As part of the preliminary design phase, CivilTech also participated in a value engineering study. CivilTech completed PS&E for the first phase of the project, which included final design for over ten retaining walls.
