Totem Lake Freeway Station at NE 128th, WSDOT and Sound Transit
CivilTech provided preliminary design and layouts for the overpass bridge, retaining walls, and stability check of an existing Hilfiker wall for the Kirkland Direct Access Project. During PS&E, our engineers performed final design on ten retaining walls within Kirkland’s right-of-way, including soil nail, MSE, concrete cantilever, and rockery walls. Some of the retaining walls were needed to minimize impacts to wetlands in the area of the widened roadway prism. CivilTech also assisted with construction support and our responsibilities included designing a temporary traffic barrier with mounted BP rail, designing temporary safety railing, developing boardwalk framing details and boardwalk barrier, redesigning walls to accommodate utilities in the field, retrofitting a wall to accommodate a luminaire foundation, designing transition walls, and preparing a concrete fascia repair.
